Leg Day Faith

“14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? 17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.” - James 2:14-17

We don't have to have it all figured out. What we need is more faith than fear. Just enough to step. It reminds me of the word of God discussing faith without works. How often have we valued, treasured and sought after works that we completely take for granted that faith is a muscle too.

WOKRS is the upper body. The biceps, the shoulders and chest.

They may be what is often flexed. The thing that many people see. You can, if you're not careful make works your CORE. You begin to obsess over it like the idea of summer abs. And we quickly start to make sacrifices. We make concessions for achieving WORKS. Next thing we know our upper body is jacked. It's developed and secure. And shoo, it probably looks really good too. Social media praises you for your accomplishments, society sees all you're doing and you feel great. The only issue... you're unbalanced.

When someone with a more balanced fitness looks at you there's one glaring issue: you skip leg day!

Isn't that so many of us?

We’re so worried about what’s on the outside—our good deeds, our careers, even the communities we foster—that life becomes too much about what have you done lately.

Something is missing. It's Faith.

The reality is Faith is the lower body. The section that powers us to move. The thing that holds us upright. It carries our earthly weight and is just as vulnerable. Faith like works needs to be developed and practiced.

It's only when we begin to see them as equally important that we can truly strengthen the CORE which is the two approaches equally bond and worked on.

When I'm helping someone with a workout I often will give them this motto of mint.

Never skip leg day but always remember your arms do most the pulling.

FAITH is crucial to anyone's development and WORKS are the blocks that allow you to measure progress. You need both. In this season more than ever.

After all, this winter season is going to pass us all and summer is right around the corner.
